systems

right now i feel as if mysticism is the only kind of spirituality that could ever make sense. any assertion of transcendent truth will inevitably step on toes, ruffle feathers, and cause violence.

hand-me-down truth claims have emerged as epistemological car crashes in the ambiguous turn lanes we somehow left unmarked.

... and then it occurred to me that judaism and christianity are perfectly adjusted means of atheism, two towers of systematized didactic addenda for the cryptic musings of an enigmatic God.

and then it occurred to me that i could be wrong. what do you think?

  1. I don't quite follow your reasoning. The fact that something does or doesn't offend someone can't make it any more or less true... Can it?

  2. @tenraikenshin: that sounds super true.
a friend just messaged me about this post, and i wrote this by way of explanation:

the systematic religions with the titles of christianity and judaism erect structures of idealism within communities that effectively eliminate the need for interference from a transcendent god.

they are perfectly adjusted atheism in that they wouldn't desire, search for or encounter such a God, even if there was one.

does this resonate with you? what are your thoughts?

  3. ...zombies. i agree that "god" has been taken out. i believe spirituality is subjective. i wouldnt put it past the institution of christianity to purposely remove true spirituality to deceive the herd, and shepherd them into believing that spirituality without the church is either invalid or heresy.

reading over that statement, it seems a bit cynical and maybe directed more towards catholicism but i think it applies.

your use of the word "mysticism" intrigues me.

  4. i recant. know much too little about catholicism and only a small portion of christianity to attempt to define them. i can however say that it seems like spirituality has atrophied.
